Cross-clinic patient summary sharing (beta): read-only access with owner consent

With the owner's signed consent, a vet opens the patient's summary (vaccines, diagnoses, medication and lab information) to another clinic through a read-only, time-limited, revocable link; every access is written to the audit record. If the receiving clinic does not use VetBis, the summary is read as a web page and can be saved with the browser's "Save as PDF"; there is no separate PDF generator. The feature is in beta: the flow works, the scope is limited (four summary sections, the newest 50 records per section).

Flow (beta)Diagram
  1. Clinic A

    Holds the patient file

  2. Owner consent

Consent is recorded; the link is time-limited and revocable

  3. Clinic B

Audit record: every access is logged.

Beta scope

The items below are the scope that works in the beta. Screens and details may change.

  • No sharing without owner consent

Sharing starts only with the "Patient summary sharing" consent signed by the owner; the link duration is chosen between 1 and 30 days and cannot outlast the consent.

  • Read-only, time-limited link

The receiving clinic sees the summary but cannot change it; the link closes when its time runs out.

  • Revocable

At the owner's request the sharing clinic can revoke the share, which closes the link immediately.

  • Access audit record

Who looked at which record and when; every access is written to the audit record.
